SAMAIA is a music and dance show which has duly deserved world recognition. The latest advancements in the show-making technology went into putting this world 's major multimillion-budget musical choreographic sensation on stage. The show, retracing the centuries-old history of the arts of dance and music in Georgia and the rest of the Caucasus, is appropriately considered a truly stunning musical event.
Every intricate twist of ancient tales is re-enacted through the brilliant art of Georgian dancers, performers and singers. This magic, reinforced by the breath-taking pageantry of colorful costumes and sets, incredible lighting and unreal sound, weaves a majestic multihued tapestry of the culture of the Caucasus - a feast for the eyes of the spectators and the triumph for SAMAIA on the world stage.
Today we are proud to present our new show ‘SAMAIA '. This new production is yet another indisputable triumph and a convincing testimony to our lasting dazzling success.

Smashing show of Georgian dancers A great group of Georgian dancers, singers and musicians came to Holland with a spectacular show. Friday evening the second show was presented in the Bussum theatre Het Spant! of a Dutch tour lasting until the 5th of October. The show was described as the Georgian version of the Irish ‘Riverdance’ and would characterize the legends and character of this truly old nation of the Caucasus. This wasn’t exactly true. The show didn’t have a storyline or even a program in which the show, dances and songs were explained. Even though most of the audience didn’t speak the Georgian language… Although they danced with great convincing powers. The male dancers played the main role; they were very well trained and made spectacular jumps, acrobatic spins and mind-blowing pirouettes. The highlight was definitely the sable dances, in which the dancers danced in a lightning and churning choreography around each other. They let the sables smash against each other with each turn so that the sparks were literally flying. The roll of the female dancers was less exuberant: they slowly moved around like Japanese dolls with long gowns while letting graciousness and a hint of mysteriousness shine through. In one dance they appeared in short dresses and they showed that they can too – just as the men – quickly move their feet. The male footwork also showed another amazing ability; dancing on the tips of their toes while wearing only rubber, unstable shoes. Unbelievable how long they can bear it. As a moment of rest, for the audience to catch their breath the male choir would sing polyphonic with deep bases. The songs probably told the history of the Georgians, but what they sang exactly was to be guessed. Also as an intermezzo two female singers sang sweet songs. The youngest generation was also represented: two boys of about 10 years old had impressive solo’s on the drums. Full of passion they screamed and yelled to each other in their own language. And even with their dancing shoes on they were pros. The music was played live and with great pace, though we couldn’t see much of the musicians. Usually a shadow behind a set piece. Once and awhile they would show their face.
